Singapore’s MINDEF awards contract to Siemens Business Services to implement electronic repository solution
Singapore, Thursday, January 26, 2006
Siemens Business Services will design, develop and implement an Enterprise Repository System for Singapore's Ministry of Defence (MINDEF). The system will enable information to be accessed from a central repository. Document and knowledge assets can be systematically managed and recorded in a user friendly manner. With a single repository, employees at MINDEF can browse, search and retrieve information swiftly, and collaborate with one another on virtual workspace. The system will be operational by mid 2007.
Leveraging on Siemens’ practitioner experience of knowledge management and implementation expertise, MINDEF will work with Siemens to provide workplace benefits for its employees. The electronic repository promotes collaboration, information sharing, and allows easy retrieval of information. The creation and documentation of content is systematically managed to meet the evolving needs of the organization. Information residing in different forms and location can be efficiently stored and effectively managed.
By building a centralized system using a common platform, MINDEF is continuing to transform itself into a collaborative and knowledge-based organization. The electronic repository will enable users to enrich their work experience through improved knowledge management and increased work productivity.
